Adding a new Room Category to a hotel follows a specific sequence in our system to ensure accurate contract implementation and rate management.
Hotel Creation: First, you must create a new hotel within the system. This step establishes the basic information for the property.
Contract Finalization: Once the hotel is created, a contract is negotiated and signed, outlining the agreed-upon room types, rates, and other terms.
Room Category Creation: Crucially, the creation of Room Categories occurs after the contract is signed but before room rates are loaded. This is because the contract dictates the specific room categories that will be available.
Purpose: Room Categories define the different types of rooms offered at the hotel (e.g., Standard Room, Deluxe Suite, Family Room). This allows for organized rate management and accurate booking options.
Contract Alignment: When creating a Room Category, you must ensure it precisely matches a room type defined in the signed contract. This guarantees that the system reflects the agreed-upon terms.
Room Occupancy Templates (Online Booking Engine Only): Please note that Room Occupancy Templates are a separate feature exclusively used by the online booking engine. These templates control the occupancy rules and configurations for online bookings. If you are not configuring the online booking engine, you can safely disregard this feature. It does not affect the creation of Room Categories or the loading of room rates within the main system."
